The Moon Also Rises - Followed by Q&A with Author Ang Li
The Moon Also Rises, based on the novel “The Lotus in the Western Paradise,” is a movie about mother-daughter relation and the tension between different kinds of love. The screening will be followed by a discussion with prize-winning author, Ms./Prof. Ang LI, on whose short story the film is based.

The Song of Cha-Tian Mountain - Followed by Q&A with director Yu-shan Huang
The Song of Cha-Tian Mountain, based on Chung Chao-cheng’s novel Taiwanese Trilogy, depicts Taiwan’s struggles under colonialism during the first half of the 20th century. The film is a tribute to how, amid large historical currents, ordinary people survive and persevere in their ideals. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Ms./Prof. Yu-shan HUANG, one of Taiwan’s leading film directors.
Co-presented by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture—Taipei Cultural Center of TECO in New York and the University of Scranton’s Asian Studies Program in collaboration with the Schemel Forum and Women’s Studies.
